Our story
Assigeco Underwriting S.r.l. was incorporated on 13 July 2017 and began operating in the insurance intermediation market on 5 October 2018, registering in Section A of the Register of Insurance Intermediaries (RUI) under number A000606969 on 26 July 2018.
The company was established on the basis of the consolidated experience of Gruppo Assigeco, which has been active in the insurance sector for over thirty years, with the aim of developing a specialized insurance agency business, with a particular focus on underwriting products and specialist coverage solutions.
Assigeco Underwriting operates as a Managing General Agent (MGA), that is, as an insurance agent with broad delegated authority from the insurance companies it represents.
The company serves businesses of all sizes, public entities and professionals, providing consultancy and services within the scope of the mandates granted by the insurance companies it represents.
The Role of the Insurance Agent
An insurance agent, pursuant to Article 109, paragraph 2, letter a) of the Private Insurance Code, is an intermediary who acts in the name or on behalf of one or more insurance or reinsurance companies, based on specific agency mandates.
Unlike a broker, who acts on behalf of the client, the agent operates on behalf of the insurance companies, while still being required to comply with the obligations of fairness, transparency, and protection of policyholders’ interests as established by current regulations.
